Visitor code of conduct

We ask you to please be a considerate visitor and comply with our visitor code of conduct. If asked, please always follow our staff's instructions. Thank you.

Bicycles, skateboards, etc.

The use of bicycles, scooters, skateboards, balance bikes, sledges and other such vehicles is not permitted in the Garden. Please leave them in the appropriate parking area provided next to the ticket offices. On weekends you may also leave these in the courtyard next to the main entrance in Menzinger Straße 65 accessed through a passage next to the ticket office.

Prams, wheelchairs and walking aids are of course permitted.

School and kindergarten visits

To ensure a smooth and pleasurable visit please note the following:

Damage to plants and property

Damaging, picking and digging up plants as well as collecting seeds is strictly prohibited. Any kind of damage or theft will be reported to the police.

Please stay on the paths.


Dogs are allowed in the garden area but must be kept on short leads.
Dogs are not allowed in the glasshouse complex or the "Winterhalle" and the immediate surrounding area (if used for special exhibitions).

Photography, video recording

You may take photographs and video recordings for your own personal use without charge. No prior permission is required.

At weekends and public holidays the use of tripods in the glasshouse complex and at special exhibitions is not permitted and must not cause an obstruction at other times.

If you wish to publish or commercially use photographs or other footage taken at the Botanical Garden you must apply for prior permission to do so and any material must bear the appropriate credits. Special fees may apply.
